Brain stroke is completely curable...it requires early diagnosis and timely advanced intervention! 80 yrs old lady was brought to Manipal Hospital in unconscious state within an hour from her house. She was put on ventilator. MRI scan showed that she was suffering from brainstem stroke due to blockage in a main artery (basilar artery) supplying blood to the brainstem. We did emergency mechanical thrombectomy, a minimally invasive procedure to remove blood clots from the blood vessel. Next day patient was awake, fully conscious and could walk on her own. She was discharged within 4 days. Timely intervention not only saved her life but also she was saved from any disability.
